More than 60 primary school children put pen to paper yesterday in an effort to get people to go green.

They were taking part in an annual art competition at the Singapore Science Centre to raise money for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

Entrants had to come up with an artwork based on the theme "Life's Beautiful. Think Green! Go Green!" Prizes such as colouring pens, cash and a trophy were up for grabs, with winning entries selected by a panel of judges for publication on the side of limited edition Beautex tissue boxes.

The event was organised by Tipex - which owns Beautex. It will donate 20 cents from each pack of five boxes sold.

Last year, the drive collected $28,000 for the fund, which donates money to children and youth from low-income families.
