PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TIPEX WILL CONTINUALLY ENSURE ITS SUPPLIERS ENGAGE IN SUSTAINABLE BEST PRACTICES
Singapore, 7th October 2015 – Tipex is one of the major distributors of consumer tissue paper products in Singapore. It owns local leading tissue paper brand Beautex (Singapore's leading brand in tissue paper products), and other brands such as Mood, Hibis, Comfy and Parity.
In response to ongoing investigations on errant suppliers responsible for the haze-causing fires in Indonesia, Tipex has clarified that it does not own plantations and paper mills to produce paper products. Rather, these are sourced from various suppliers, internationally.
The supply chain process typically involves several parties with supply and demand scenarios adopting a multi-pronged approach. Due to the involvement of many parties in the process, companies may not be privy to one another's internal business and work processes. A longer lead time was therefore necessary for Tipex to provide responses/comments to members of the press.
Tipex engages in fair and sustainable trade practices. Our company supports Singapore SEC's movement for companies to procure via sustainable sources that do not contribute to the haze and has since signed on the declaration form. Tipex will also suspend, with immediate effect, all raw materials that are sourced indirectly from APP's representations via its subsidiary company in Malaysia for paper products to be sold in Singapore.
Mr Richard Sim, Vice President of Tipex Pte Ltd says, "It is unfortunate that the forest fires in Indonesia are affecting the quality of the air in Singapore. As a socially responsible company, our priority is to continually ensure that all our supplies are purchased from the most sustainable sources. We respect our consumers' goodwill, which has contributed to Beautex becoming a leading facial tissue paper brand in Singapore."
Tipex is also a recipient of the SEC's "Green Label Singapore" scheme for two of its products – Beautex Bathroom Tissues and Gooodlife Bathroom Tissues. These two products are made from 100% recycled paper and are not sourced from any of the five companies, as released by the National Environment Agency (NEA) earlier.
Beautex, a forerunner in the personal hygiene industry and Singapore's leading facial tissue brand, produces a wide range of tissue products such as tissue boxes, bathroom tissues, multipurpose towels, pocket tissues, personal care wipes and household care wipes. Featured in the Singapore Book of Records, Beautex is the first company to launch a complete range of premium and economical three-ply tissue products. Beautex is marketed and distributed by Tipex Pte Ltd. Beautex tissue boxes are available in supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience and general trade outlets island wide.
